Fuorty teams entered, the finals will be played in Abano
PADUA. It turns out every time a new record with the national Epiphany minibasket tournament. Even now that is about to begin the seventeenth edition with 40 teams from all over Italy, who will take assault nine plants game between Padua, will be touched yet another record: during the 2015 will in fact knocked down the wall of the eight thousand children and also of the 500 teams that in 16 years took part in the famous festival of minibasket.
«The satisfaction with the result achieved is huge», confides Andrea Beghin, spokesman for the tournament of the Epiphany, «of the 40 teams, who will take the field Friday, January 2, nine are from outside the region, with a prevalence of miniplayers coming from Tuscany and in particular from Siena and Pisa, the two cities involved, which will bring in Padua even five teams. Added to these are then Sp Vignola, BaskeTrieste, Marotta Basketball and San Paolo Ostiense. The record of companies from outside the region is also supported by 31 mini-centers, which are divided into these provinces: fourteen teams from Padua, nine from Venice, five from Vicenza, two from Treviso andare one from Verona.»
During the days of racing, the miniplayers will be on stage in the fields of Alpi and Romero in Limena; in the building San Domenico Savio in Mortise; at the indoor stadium of Piombino Dese; in the gym of the primary school of Torreselle (fraction of Piombino Dese); in the gym of Caltana in Santa Maria di Sala in Via Cavour; in the Don Bosco gym in Camposampiero and in PalaCertosa in Vigodarzere. At the beginning, the PalaFabris was to host finals and awards ceremony scheduled for Monday, January 5 (till 15.30 until 16.45), but for economic reasons, the organizing committee was forced to opt for the PalaBerta of Abano Terme. «The amount to be paid for the use of PalaFabris in Padua”, state with a bit’ of bitterness the organizers, “proved unsustainable for a tournament like ours, which does not have any profit-making, and wants to invest all resources in favor of children who participate. The Epiphany of minibasket grows and improves, thanks to the help and enthusiasm of many young volunteers, who each year try to make this event more and more organized and hospitable.» A claim that organizers hope will probably be heard for the next edition.
